Tariff Data Set

The following changes to the Tariff Data Set:

1.  Deprecate the GUMCAD field.  The field will no longer be listed in the field list and payment triggers will no longer be based upon it (will be implemented on 1 Apr 2015).

Rationale:  This field identifies the service level of the clinic providing the data and indicates whether or not the 'M' (medication given) is used in the GUMCAD SHAPPT fields.  The improper use of this field is causing a high proportion of mis-calculated tariff charges that are out of proportion to the benefit it's further use might offer.

2.  Field GENDER: new code 9: Indeterminate (unable to be classified as either male or female) (will be implemented on 1 Feb 2015)

Rationale:  To conform to GUMCADv2a and NHS Data Dictionary element PERSON GENDER CODE

3.  Rename field 'PCT of Residence' to 'LA District of Residence' along with an associated change to its meaning (we plan to deprecate this field and use LSOA to identify Local Authority of residence in future). (will be implemented on 1 Apr 2015)

Rationale:  To conform to GUMCADv2

4.  Deprecate field 'PCT of GP Registration'.  The field will no longer be listed in the field list.  The responsible Commissioner will be identified by the LA of Residence field only. (will be implemented on 1 Apr 2015)

Rationale:  To conform to GUMCADv2

5.  Additional SHHAPTn codes (will be implemented on 1 Feb 2015):

Rationale: To conform to NHS Data Dictionary element SEXUAL HEALTH AND HIV ACTIVITY PROPERTY TYPES

6.  Additional Care Activity Field(n) codes: 

Codes being replaced will remain available for use until 1 Jan 2016.

Rationale: To conform to SRHADv2  

7.   Location Type element to be renamed Activity Location Type (will be implemented on 1 Apr 2015)

Rationale: To conform to SRHADv2 and NHS Data Dictionary element ACTIVITY LOCATION TYPE

8.  New GUM Episode to be renamed First Attendance and adopt Initial Contact (will be implemented on 1 Apr 2015)

Rationale: To conform to NHS Data Dictionary element FIRST ATTENDANCE and SRHADv2  

Payment Triggers & Process

The following changes to the Payment Triggers will be implemented for data uploaded for months of Apr 2015 onwards:

1.  Removal of GUMCAD field.  Where payment triggers previously included AND GUMCAD=1 then the AND GUMCAD=1 criteria will be removed in currencies:

2.  The responsible commissioner shall be identified only by the field LA of Residence (and not defer to the location of the patient's GP) an option to use LSOA of Residence to infer Local Authority of Residence may be introduced in the Grouper from 1 Apr 2015 (we are working on this).

LSOA Field

LSOA field in the Tariff Dataset will become mandatory (from 1 Apr 2015).  An option to use the LSOA of residence to infer Local Authority of Residence may be introduced in the Grouper from 1 Apr 2015 (we are working on this).

Rationale: To conform to SRHADv2 and to GUMCADv2

Medical Gynaecological

The Medical Gynaecological currency to be renamed Medical Gynaecological (CCG) (from 1 Apr 2015) to reflect the fact that it represents activity chargeable to CCGs rather than Local Authorities.

Rationale: To conform to Making it Work guide, Sep 2014.

Tariff Prices

The following changes to the Tariff Prices will be implemented for data uploaded for months of Apr 2015 onwards:

1.  The 2015 Tariff prices published here shall be implemented.
